Beyonce’s Open Letter to First Lady Michelle Obama
She’s pretty iconic in her own right, but even Beyonce Knowles Carter has an idol.
The “Party” hit-maker paid homage to her First Lady Michelle Obama via an open letter posted to her newly-minted Tumblr account on Thursday. Beyonce praises Mrs. O for her achievements in business and for being ”humble, loving and sincere.
The “Halo” also credits herself proud that her own daughter, three-month-old Blue Ivy, will find mentors in women like the First Lady. In the handwritten note, Beyonce writes:
“Michelle is the ULTIMATE example of a truly strong African American woman. No matter the pressure and the stress of being under the microscope — she’s humble, loving, and sincere. Michelle, thank you so much for every single thing that that u do for us — I am proud to have my daughter grow up in a world where she has people like you to look up to.”
Beyonce lent her 2008 dance anthem “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” to the First Lady’s “Let’s Move” youth fitness campaign.
