You’ve gotta give it to her: Beyonce Knowles-Carter sure knows how to turn a quick buck…or a quick million.
Queen Beysus has signed a $50 million deal to become the new face of soft drink giant Pepsi.
The “Love on Top” songbird will front Pepsi’s “Live for Now” campaign; complete with a limited edition line of cans emblazoned with the singer’s famous face. The cans will debut in Europe in March.
Beyonce’s performance at February’s 2013 Super Bowl 2013 Halftime Show will be sponsored by the cola brand. Her first Pepsi ad will make its debut during football’s biggest night.
Bey sounded exuberant about the deal in a statement Monday:
“Pepsi embraces creativity and understands that artists evolve. As a businesswoman, this allows me to work with a lifestyle brand with no compromise and without sacrificing my creativity.”
Knowles-Carter succeeds pop royalty like Michael Jackson and Britney Spears as the latest trailblazer to join the Pepsi fold. Pepsi is expected to be the official sponsor of many of Beyonce concerts. The company will also help to promote the star’s forthcoming fifth studio solo album, set for release next year, according to Brad Jakeman, president of PepsiCo’s global beverage group.
“Consumers are seeking a much greater authenticity in marketing from the brands they love. It’s caused a shift in the way we think about deals with artists, from a transactional deal to a mutually beneficial collaboration.”
It’s been a busy winter for Bey. Blue Ivy’s mom was spotted leaving a New York City recording studio with husband Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake in tow. Word on the Curb is Beyonce will be releasing some new tracks just before her big Super Bowl appearance on Feb. 3.
