Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson and James Taylor Among Obama Inauguration Court
Beyonce, James Taylor and Kelly Clarkson will perform at President Barack Obama’s second inauguration in Washington on Jan. 21.
Beyonce will belt out the National Anthem at the West Front of the U.S. Capitol just before the official swearing in, the committee planning the event said Wednesday. This isn’t the first trip to Washington for the R&B diva: Beyonce attracted the ire of Etta James after she sang the late songbird’s classic ballad “At Last” for the Obamas’ first dance during the Neighborhood Inaugural Ball in 2009.
Clarkson will sing “My Country, ‘Tis of Thee,” which soul icon Aretha Franklin memorably sang at Obama’s first inauguration while wearing a distinctive hat. Taylor has been tapped to sing “America the Beautiful.”
