“Beverly Hills Cop” Pilot Picked Up by CBS

0

That was quick…Just a week after Eddie Murphy announced plans to bring his ’80s action/comedy trilogy, Beverly Hills Cop, to the small screen, CBS has given the project a pilot order.

Murphy and Shawn Ryan, creator of The Shield are teaming up to executive produce the Sony TV-produced project — a sequel to the hit films that chronicled the exploits of fish-out-of-water Detroit detective Axel Foley (Murphy) in Los Angeles. The proposed series will center on Axel’s police officer son, Aaron, who struggles to escape the shadow of his larger-than-life father.

Murphy is expected to make recurring appearances as the elder Foley, who now works as chief of police in the Motor City.
