Paris Hilton confirmed her split from ex-boyfriend Benji Madden in an interview with “On-Air with Ryan Seacrest” Friday, but the reality star was careful to add that she’s still in love with the Good Charlotte rocker.

“Right now we’re just taking a break. We’re really good friends, we’re really close. I love him, he’s such an amazing man. He’s my best friend. He’s been so great to me … I’m still in love with him.”

Paris says the separation was mutual. “I think right now we’re just better off as friends. We’re both working so much, I’ve been traveling, he’s been working non-stop in the studio with his brother on a new record.”

The heiress also blasted tabloid reports that Madden’s controlling nature caused her to pull the plug on the romance: “[Benji] is not a jealous person,” she added. “I’ve never been treated so well in my life.”
