Ben Stiller Thanks Fans, Friends For Kind Words Regarding Anne Meara, Celebs Provide Tweet Tributes


Ben Stiller, along with many others in the Hollywood community, has been mourning the loss of his mother, Anne Meara. She was an actress and a legend in the comedy world, married to Jerry Stiller.

Meara passed away at the age of 85 on Saturday, May 23rd, due to natural causes. She enjoyed a lengthy career in both film and TV and was nominated for four Emmy Awards. She was on stage, in film, TV, and also became a playwright.

She performed for much of her career with her husband Jerry Stiller, appearing as a comedy team for a number of years on The Ed Sullivan Show and The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson. She also starred in many other series’ such as All My Children, Murder, She Wrote, Archie Bunker’s Place, and Sex And The City.

Ben Stiller appreciated all of the love from the fans and the kind words that were said by a large number of members of the Hollywood community and took to Twitter to give a heartfelt thank you message this morning.

A variety of people in the acting and comedy community shared their kind words for the woman that had made people laugh for many years. Her first role was in The Out Of Towners in 1970 and she most recently had her voice in the animated film Planes: Fire and Rescue.

Some of the most noteworthy tweets came from legends in comedy just like Meara herself, including Steve Martin, Billy Crystal, and more.

She will be remembered as one of the greats in the world of comedy and missed by all who knew her and her comedic genius. Meara is survived by her husband Jerry Stiller, along with her son, Ben Stiller, and daughter, Amy Stiller.

Ben Stiller was lucky enough to work with his mother in a few of his films such as Reality Bites and Zoolander, and she will be greatly missed by her family. She had been married to Jerry Stiller since 1954 and they had worked together on screen for 61 years.
