“Beauty & The Beast” 3D In Theaters Aug. 12

Pinch me! Disney is re-releasing the 1991 animated classic Beauty & The Beast in Digital-3D next month, and the news is exciting enough to make my inner eight-year-old clap with glee.

Belle and Beast are returning to the big screen for the first time in 19 years ahead of the film’s new DVD release in October.

Beauty & The Beast is one of only two animated features to be nominated for a Best Picture Oscar (the other being 2009’s Up). The cinema masterpiece lost the prize to The Silence of the Lambs. However, the title track from the soundtrack, composed by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, won the Academy Award for Best Original Song.

Beauty & The Beast: 3D hits theaters on Aug. 12 before arriving on Diamond Edition DVD Oct. 5!
