Balloon Boy Parents Sent To Jail

Balloon Boy’s Parents Have Been Deflated: Ole St. Nick doesn’t have any Christmas Miracles in store for Richard and Mayumi Heene, the couple who caused a national uproar when they called in a hoax saying their 6-year-old son was trapped in an experimental flying device.
The parents of three were sentenced to jail time for the stunt at a hearing in Fort Collins, Colorado on Wednesday.
Richard will serve 60 days in County Jail, with 30 days of supervised release, while Mayumi will spend 20 days behind bars. He will begin his sentence after the holidays. Mayumi won’t begin her sentence until her husband finishes his jail time so there can be someone home with their children, Larimer County Judge Stephen Schapanski said.
