Backstreet Boys Boycott BP In Wake Of Gulf Oil Spill Crisis

BSB is calling foul on BP.
Groundbreaking boy band the Backstreet Boys are joining hip-hopster Kanye West and heavy metal band Korn in boycotting British Petroleum’s (BP) fuel in protest of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
Backstreet decided to back up Korn by boycotting BP after performing in Biloxi, Mississippi last week — where they witnessed the plight of marine life and working families devastated by the disaster.
The band urges fans to throw their support behind the cause too.
“I’m devastated by what I’ve seen first hand and on the news. I’ve always been a marine activist and seeing pictures of oil-covered animals breaks my heart,” said Nick Carter.
Bandmate Brian Littrell added: “We just played Biloxi last week and I have to tell you people are really worried down there. This boycott is about making a statement, letting people know how we feel and to stand for something.”

What does it mean, exactly, that Kanye, Korn and Backstreet Boys are boycotting BP?
Does it mean that they are going to check what kind of fuel was put into every car, plane and boat they get a ride in, and if it’s BP, they won’t get on? Or is it just an announcement they can make that looks good?
The truth is, at this point, most of BP’s remaining money will probably go to cleaning up this terrible spill anyway, so supporting BP probably supports the spill cleanup, whereas supporting other oil companies just supports their own dangerous, regulation-violating Gulf oil rigs.
If you want to fight Big Oil, ride a bike. Boycotting one company doesn’t do much.

Good for them. British Petroleum is already weasiling out of helping the victims and is doing almost nothing to clean up the spill, despite their lies to the contrary.
