Avengers: Age Of Ultron, to just about no one’s surprise, has become one of the biggest box office hits of all time. The sequel to the 2012 hit film The Avengers has surpassed the original in some areas and continues to draw in fans.
The Marvel franchise and its cinematic universe continues to draw new people in and with every new Marvel film, it seems like the brand gets even more popular. Most recently, Avengers: Age Of Ultron has crossed the $900 million mark internationally, an incredibly rare accomplishment.
It is only the fifth film to ever reach the $900 million milestone overseas, following in the footsteps of Furious 7, Avatar, Titanic, and Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows. However, the first film was just shy of that number, earning $895 million internationally.
Avengers: Age Of Ultron has been one of the biggest movies in the world since its release and remained at the top of the box office for several weeks, quickly earning the rare $1 billion mark worldwide.
It is an action-packed story that featured each of the main Avengers joining together with Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver in order to defeat Ultron and his robot army that were taking over the world.
The star power clearly helps add to the film’s intrigue beyond the mega cast of Marvel characters with Robert Downey Jr, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, and Jeremy Renner as the primary group of Avengers along with Samuel L. Jackson and more.
The Avengers films are easily able to win over comic book fans, but the star power matched with the humor and lighter tone than DC comic book adaptations helps give them a more mainstream appeal as well.
Following the events of Avengers: Age Of Ultron, fans can see most of them back in action in Captain America: Civil War, followed by Avengers: Infinity War-Part 1 and Avengers: Infinity War-Part 2, which will all be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, who previously did Captain America: Winter Soldier.
