Atlanta “Housewives” Fiance Killed Outside Strip Club; Suspect In Custody
The former fiance The Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Kandi Burruss was killed after a fight outside an Atlanta strip club on Friday night, and ATL police say they’ve charged a local man with the crime.

Atlanta police spokesman James Polite says Fredrick Richardson has been charged with voluntary manslaughter in the death of Ashley “A.J.” Jewell, who died from massive head injuries after the fight in the parking lot of the Body Tap Club, according to WSBTV.com. Police say Jewell worked at the gentlemen’s club, but they are not sure what started the fight.
Richardson is being held at a detention center as a result of his injuries; he’ll be taken to jail once medical personnel clear him.
Jewell was engaged to Kandi, 33, — who rose to fame in the ’90s as part of the R&B girl group Xscape — until August. He appeared in several episodes of the Bravo show, which follows the lives of socialites in the Southern city.
Kandi, a Grammy award-winning songwriter who penned TLC’s 1998 hit “No Scrubs,” posted a message on her Twitter account early Saturday.
“im just in one of those moods where i dont wanna talk, i dont wanna b held&told its gonna b ok. i just wanna cry myself 2 sleep, alone. I could never n a million years imagine this happening. please pray for AJ’s children.”
