Ashton Kutcher “Two And A Half Men” Deal A Go; Charlie Sends His Well-Wishes
On Friday, CBS and Warner Bros. revealed that funny guy Ashton Kutcher will succeed Charlie Sheen as the next star of Two and a Half Men. Kutcher who rose to fame playing Michael Kelso on the FOX comedy That 70’s Show, will take over his new role when the show kicks off its ninth season this fall.
The Hollywood Reporter blew the lid off of the Kutcher Casting Scoop on Thursday evening.
“I can’t wait to get to work with this ridiculously talented 2.5 team and I believe we can fill the stage with laughter that will echo in viewers’ homes,” Kutcher said in a statement released Friday. “I can’t replace Charlie Sheen but I’m going to work my ass off to entertain the hell out of people!”
“We are so lucky to have someone as talented, joyful and just plain remarkable as Ashton joining our family,” Chuck Lorre, Two and a Half Men’s creator and executive producer said of Ashton joining the show. “Added to that is the deep sigh of relief knowing that our family stays together. If I was any happier, it’d be illegal.”
Of course, no report on the future of Two and a Half Men is complete without a word from The MaSheen!
“Kutcher is a sweetheart and a brilliant comedic performer … Oh wait, so am I!!” Charlie told TMZ shortly after news of Ashton’s casting hit the headlines. “Enjoy the show America. Enjoy seeing a 2.0 in the demo every Monday, WB. Enjoy planet Chuck, Ashton. There is no air, laughter, loyalty, or love there.”
Well, if it’s any consolation, Ashton isn’t getting paid “Sheen Money” for his trouble. While the $1.25 million an episode Charlie earned made him highest-paid sitcom star in America, Kutcher will reportedly collect between $800,000 to $900,000 per episode. Ashton also won’t be taking over Charlie’s old role as Charlie Harper. A new part will be created for him.
Production begins this summer. Do you think Ashton Kutcher is a good replacement for Charlie Sheen on Two and a Half Men?
