Ashley Greene’s latest gig has earned the star a new accolade from animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).
The willowy Twilight stunner has been named the 2010 recipient of the PETA Kind Choices Award.
Greene, who plays Alice Cullen in the bloodthirsty blockbuster franchise, snatched the honor after accepting an endorsement deal last month with Mark, Avon’s youth-oriented cosmetics brand. PETA is pleased that Greene has opted to represent a “cruelty–free” brand that has a noted reputation as a friend to animals (Avon products are not tested on animals).
“It doesn’t take a psychic to know why we’re so psyched about Ashley’s affiliation with Avon,” a PETA rep remarked on Thursday. “The company is a true industry leader: In 1989, Avon became the first major cosmetics company in the world to end all testing on animals. So here’s to the dawn of a new era of Avon ads featuring Ashley! And congratulations to the lovely actor for winning PETA’s award!”
PETA spokeswoman Amanda Schinke adds: “We applaud her for choosing to partner with a cruelty-free cosmetics company. Ashley will receive a framed certificate and a card.”
Ashley, 23, will make her Mark debut in a print and television ad campaign debuting this fall.
