Arsenio Hall Tops Ratings in Late-Night Comeback
Can we hear a Woof! Woof! Woof!?
The first night back on the job was a great one for funnyman Arsenio Hall. The comedian has rejoined the late-night landscape nearly 20 years after his original nightly gabfest ended its run on the small screen.
Monday’s debut episode of The Arsenio Hall Show finished in first place, topping perennial late-night leader The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, as well as competitors The Late Show With David Letterman and Jimmy Kimmel Live. Arsenio was the evening’s top-rated late-night broadcast in both the 18-49 and 25-54 demos.
Hall’s original show debuted in 1989 and ran for six seasons before being axed in 1994. Hall upped the nostalgia factor in the premiere with appearances from ex-girlfriend Paula Abdul and old pals Chris Tucker and Snoop Lion (who made his first national television appearance on Arsenio in 1993). The show opened with a special introductory comedy bit featuring Jay Leno.
