With all of the great REAL soul singers (Candi Staton, Bettye LaVette, Loleatta Holloway, Etta James, etc.), she's going to legitimize Christina Aguilera, who, to my ears doesn't know squat about soul singing. Perhaps it's because Franklin is still chasing the top ten instead of finishing out her recording career with the dignity with which she started. Her "So Damn Happy" album was met with scathingly bad reviews by fans who purchased her attempt with the hip/hop sound and she's continued it with her duet with Fantasia Barrino, a young lady who DOES know how to sing soul. But that hip/hoppish record is boring and sounds like the rest of the hip/hop out there. What a waste. I never liked "Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves" either. All those years and Franklin never went into the studio with Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye, Wilson Pickett or David Ruffin, but now she's going to duet with Ms. Aguilera? I'm disappointed.
