Legendary celebrity snapper Annie Leibovitz has issued a statement defending her near nude photo of Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus in the June issue of Vanity Fair Magazine.

“I’m sorry that my portrait of Miley has been misinterpreted,” Annie Leibovitz said in a statement on Monday. “Miley and I looked at fashion photographs together, and we discussed the picture in that context before we shot it. The photograph is a simple, classic portrait, shot with very little makeup, and I think it is very beautiful.”

No way this photograph should be published. A artistic photograph demonstrating an innocent young girl is one thing , however this photograph is a complete and total disgrace, it suggests sex which is way too mature for a CHILD of only 15 years old. As a parent I try hard to teach my children morals and values. To teach them that sex is something not to be taken lightly and here she is obviously NOT taking it lightly looking like a Lolita. What was this photographer thinking? This isn’t beautiful, this is a boudoir photograph, it is sick!

i dont think there is anything wrong with this picture it reminds me of a potrait hanging up in an art museum. its innocent you can tell by the look on her face. shes not trying to pose like a slut shes just posing and i think she looks gorgeous it would be completly diffrent if she was actually posing nude but shes not so why dont you people get a life and leave her alone.

miley’s parents were on site during the shoot. they all saw the picture, as it was taken digitally and was available to be seen instantly. if they opposed the picture, miley and her parents should have objected then, not after clearly, and sadly, getting pressure from her kid-centric cash cow, disney.

[also, jenna, you should be slapped for accusing annie leibovitz of being a sick boudoir photographer. her work is beautiful, classy, and edgy, all at the same time. miley cyrus should feel honored and own up to approving the portrait rather than playing dumb and feeling "ashamed".]

Annie Leibovitz is an incredibly talented photographer who has never taken a bad picture of anyone. Miley admitted that she was honored to do the photoshoot and approved the pictures shortly after they were taken. It’s a shame that now after there’s been “scandal” surrounding it she’s upset about the pictures. The pictures are still artistic and beautiful.
If she’s mature enough to be earning $18 million for a TV show and concert tour, she’s mature enough to pose for art that shows no more than what would show if she were in a bikini.

Hey I agree with everyone this photo is artistic and people should leave her alone but steel she is turning her life upside down she is way to young to take pics like thatbut it is beautiful. But I steel dont like miley cuz shes teaching little kids to do wrong. but still leave the poor girl alone shes just a kid.
