Anne Hathaway is in discussions to play Judy Garland in an upcoming film based on Gerald Clarke’s biography, Get Happy: The Life of Judy Garland.

The biopic will chart Judy’s rise from a striking child star to her struggle with drinks and alcohol.

The 26-year-old Disney starlet turned Oscar-nominated actress is so excited about the prospect of bringing Garland to the big screen, she’s willing to scrap her lead role in the upcoming comedy The Fiance.

“Anne dearly wants to do a musical and this could be her chance,” a Hollywood insider told The Daily Mail on Sunday. “The big attraction is that it really will be her singing, not recordings of Judy. She is determined to do it justice. If she nails the part, she will be a shoo-in for some big awards.”
