Why is anyone listening to Ann Coulter? I understand that everyone is entitled to their opinion, and freedom of speech is everyone's right, but to put her in the public eye to listen to her spew her crazy ideas is nonsense. Whoopi said it right when she said "you can dish it out, but you can't take it". Ann's sarcasm was disgusting, She attacked Barbara, without provocation, and come on Barbara, please, have an opinion on something!. You should have shut her down. If you ever have her on the show again, I suggest you make it a one guest show and let each woman ask her a specific question then allow them to respond. DON'T GIVE ANYONE THAT POISON SHE HAS WRITTEN. IF THEY ARE REALLY INTERESTED THEY WILL BUY IT. She is dispicable.

Actually, nobody on The View is listening to Ann Coulter. They are so busy talking over her and attacking her that they don't pay any attention or give any thought to her points. I don't know why anyone would subject themselves to that misery, but if she can give it back to them, more power to her. And, they just had to take another jab at Sarah Palin. She must really give them nightmares.

Ann Coulter doesn't appear to have any credentials, or experience; she just makes money by mouthing off in the most provocative way about whatever pisses off non-Republicans. She's not anything but a brainwashed conservative and writes about how wrong the left is. This ideology does not contribute to "our" childrens futures- frankly, I am very thankful that she is not a mother (God help that child). This was a pointless interview. Actually, I would not even call it an interview. I appears as though the women of The View only had Ann Coulter on the show to attack her. Whenever she started to talk about her book, which is why she was there, one of them immediately changed the topic and went on the offensive. They all had to get their jabs in, especially Whoopi.

This interview was a prime example of the typical liberal mindset, "If you don't share my beliefs and opinions then you are wrong."

It's sad. I used to think Barbara Walters was a serious, respected and unbiased journalist. She threw all of that away the second The View went on the air.

  17. On January 12th 2009, Momsaid wrote:

So, citing statistics makes you a hater…how logical. She didn't slam single mothers, she reported what happens to their children. Of course the absent fathers usually set up the situation in the first place, but the choice to not raise them in a married home or adopt them to another couple was made by the mothers. Widowed and divorced mothers raising kids have similar outcomes to those of intact families.

The point is, when the Left denigrated traditional marriage, advocated 'free love', and blurred gender roles, the result was a generation of confused/thoughtless/irresponsible kids thinking that 'a piece of paper' didn't mean anything. The downfall of fatherless children's chances is chronicled on 'pieces of paper': court records, rap sheets, morgue lists, abortion clinic bills, welfare files, etc. You cannot divorce (pun intended) the source from the outcome.

You know, any time you bring up polarized and highly charged emotional issues, people are going to react with emotion. The ladies of "The View" are not (and have never claimed to be) unbiased journalists…they all have similar and dissimilar views on a range of topics. They are there to express their opinions and engage in discourse. It just so happens that yesterday, they all pretty much agreed, that's not always the case, nor should it be that way. Social issues (such as single parenthood) are very touchy subjects and the point is that everyone (including Ann Coulter) is entitled to their opinion. Ann was making an argument and had research/statistics (however arguable) to back up her argument…which is fine.

I think the problem was that she was making a sweeping generalization about a topic she has never personally experienced…a lot of us are guilty of doing that…it's the age old adage "…until you walk a mile in someone else's shoes…" It comes off as VERY insensitive (even if it is true) and God forbid she ever have to walk in a single mother's shoes. God forbid she ever have to work three jobs to provide for her children. God forbid she ever try her best to raise her kids, only to have one of them wander down the wrong path. I think, her perspective might be different if she knew what it was like to walk in those shoes…or maybe not. Some of the jabs and "low blows" from both sides were unneccessary and unfortunate because it took away from, what could have been, an interesting discussion about a topic that we all see differently because we have all experienced differently.

"Judge not, lest you be judged first."

~From a single, educated, Jewish, childless, liberal who thinks it's ok for people to have differing opionions…as long as we express our opinions with compassion…because humanity is a commonality we all share even if our life experiences make us as different as night and day.

Liberals don't fit under one giant umbrella, nor do conservatives. Nobody deserves that kind of vitrolic diatribe. Yes, the women on the View can be irritating, especially Joy Behar, But Barabara Walters and Whoopi Goldberg don't deserve that kind of treatment. And they're right, when Anne has raised a few kids on her own, we'll see what her opinion is of single parents. I know a number of very successful people who are the children of single parents.

Response to Toni: you're right. A "moron" would describe someone with an intellectual deficit, and someone who graduated from Cornell wouldn't qualify. (By the way, it's "University of Michigan", not "Michigan U.") Nonetheless, Ann draws absolute conclusions where she has no insight or experience. For example, she claimed that since Halle Berry was speaking (during her acceptance speech) for black people, she was therefore identifying with her black father. Perhaps Ms. Berry had other, more complex motives for her speech. Who can know except Ms. Berry? Ann Coulter employs sweeping generalizations and generally profits from creating divisiveness. To me, that's blithering. In this time, the country as a whole is in crisis, and to try so hard to piss people off is just not constructive. Even some of the more staunch Republicans in Congress have had to admit that some of Obama's points and plans have merit. AC would sell far more books being insightful…..people would buy it just to see what she's up to.

Whoopie had it right when she commented on Ann's "act", but her obvious anger with Coulter made the point less impactful. Ann Coulter has been spewing her hate for decades longer than any of us deserve. Far too many people are listening to her nonsense and getting excited about it. It was irritating to watch the interview – everyone, including Coulter – felt too strongly to support their own opinion with authority. I agree with the ladies from the view when it comes to Ann Coulter and her hateful comments and books, but I was disappointed with their inability to manage the interview. On the other hand, I know I couldn't have handled a conversation with Coulter without feeling like my brain might explode! If she is truly as hateful as she puts herself out to be, I feel sorry for her and I hope that someday she finds her soul. If it's an act, let's put her up for an Oscar… And as for the ladies of the View, please stop talking about Coulter and her books – stop supporting her by drawing more attention to her vile opinions or her vile "act", whichever the case may be.

From a woman with at least as much education as Coulter, but much less hate, who chooses not to refer to large parts of our population as "the liberals" or "the conservatives" as if I'm referring to a piece of dog crap on my shoe. I can't wait until people like Coulter stop spending their time and energy trying to divide this country. I don't understand how anybody, even if they consider themselves to be conservatives, can fail to see her for what she is.

P.S. The vast majority of single mothers are not single mothers by choice or by design. Men – both liberal AND conservative – are responsible for abandoning too many of these children and their mothers. And it is the children who are abandoned and unwanted by these men that are at risk – not the loved and cared for children of the very few women who actually ARE single parents by choice.

I am one of those 'liberals' and I honestly don't mind that conservatives want everyone to be perfect and to have an ideal life. I do mind that they don't FUND programs to encourage their aims. For example – they want to outlaw abortion but they don't want to increase funding for adoption agencies. They want people to stop having babies out of wedlock, but they won't fund contraception. They denegrate the African American population, but refuse to fund urban schools enough that they get good teachers that stay. It's a paradox.. one that I hope will evenutally even out. I think EVERYBODY, regardless of race or political situation, wants perfect families, wars that are won in days, no children without families, kids who stay kids until they are 18 – it's Pleasantville and we all want that, but some of us see the reality out there and recognize that some members of society need help, not riducle and insults.

These admittedly dark thoughts aside, what I find interesting (and, perhaps, most telling) is that, overwhelmingly, the best written, most cogent and considered responses shown above were submitted by liberals, and the nuggets provided by right-wing nut jobs are all but illiterate. Don't they have the right to be happy too? Gays are maybe only 5-6% of the pop, and only a small minority of them wants to get married. They are allowed civil unions everywhere. I just love how she quotes statistics that support the "fact" that behind most every criminal in jail, there is a single mother. Never mind that that single mother might have gotten pregnant on accident and the father didn't want to stick around, was raped, or the father ran off with his secretary. Never mind that she has to work several jobs to support these kids and spends every waking moment possible trying to help them be the best they can. Never mind that everyone is able to make their own choices or that peer pressure can be very hard to go against. Never mind that once a child reaches 18, they are free to do what they want. Never mind any of that. So, going off what Ann said, even if you are in a marriage that is falling apart (no longer seeing eye to eye, someone is abusive, cheaters, growing apart) and you are fighting on a regular basis, you should stay together for the kids. Don't worry, the kids will hear every harsh word spoken, whispered, or screamed. They will see any bruises or alcohol that destroys the family. You have to stay together for the kids. I want to know where she is getting her statistics because if my parents would have stayed together, I would have slapped them both stupid. My mom raised my brother and me working two jobs, very little daycare/babysitting, and both of our fathers not in our lives at all. My brother's father (yes we have different fathers) raped my mother and owns a porn shop in which he had my brother working. My brother actually had his father around more than I did. And guess who has spent time in trouble with the law? One guess. NOT me. And I love when someone points out its the mother's fault because of her poor choice of partner. Some people are just not made to be parents and end up running out on the kids. And we blame good ol' mom. You know mother's day cards sell out in prisons more than father's day cards? Think about that one a little while.

Point in all this? I'm glad she's not a mother. That means that when she's gone, her blood line and way of thinking fades that much more. She has no idea what she's talking about and when she's on tv, she cuts down everyone around her. Ever watch the other interview with Matt Lauer? She spent the first 5 minutes of her interview talking about the network and her being "banned". Grow up, Ann. You don't know what you are talking about.

Sadly enough, any publicity is good publicity. Even when its bad publicity.

Anne Coulter rocked. What a ridiculous show. Put Whoppee whats her name in a real debate against Anne and it would be embarrassing. Love to see that soon.

I never understand what Ann coulter was about and i had to read alot about her and i believe that she thrives on being controversial and spews attack on people, even personal attacks, saying Jews need to be "perfected"

    calling President Clinton gay

how does she get off on making personal rude comments on people?

The fact that she overgeneralize about Single Mother.

Our current Preseident is a product o a single mother, and so is my Father'who is truly he most wonderful person any one would ever be glad to meet. How dare she,

she needs to stop downing single mothers-aside from divorce, widowhood and look at the fathers who dont want to stick around to raise these childresn

If she wants to talk abotu people in jail being raised by Single moms

how about this world's worst criminals Osama-Bin Laden, he wasnt raised by single mother- or any of his Al-Qaeda cohorts

There are killers, such a Dahmer, Robert ,Tim Mcvey,Chambers, to name a few,an other criminals who grew up in a happy home and killed others

She should stop judging others, but how else would she sell her books,

but yoreu right the View hosts should have let her talk just so people can tell how she's just

ridicu;ous she can be while she's laughing o the bank!

Ann Coulter has the facts. She is right on all counts, particularly on the issue of single mothers. Illegitimate children (No Fathers In the Home) raised unsuccessfully by single women are the primary cause of our culture's criminal behavior (White and Black).

Unfortunately, the View Crew are "clueless". Ann Coulter is a Gem. Whoopie is simply not in her class when it comes to discussing issues of importance. Neither are the other "ladies".

It's all $ – It's not personal. The View gets money from the increased ratings, Ann gets money from the show … so why all the fighting? Win-Win in this economy. Ann has some shocking, funny points of how America has evolved – in many cases – for the worst. GO Marriage! I will buy the book.

Ann Coulter is an idiot, plain and simple!!! She thinks people do not hate her. Well, I hate her and everything for which she stands. I think she is unhappy because she is ugly (inside and out), does not have an kids, and is not married. Why are people giving her so much energy? Just ignore her and maybe she will go away. She also thinks she is like because she has sold 7 million copies of her stupid book. Well, McDonald's sells millions of hamburgers everyday, but that doesn't mean they make a good burger.

What are some of you people talking about?I disagree with Ann on the War and some of the characters in the GOP…But she is DEAD ON CORRECT on many other things…The bigoted buffoons on The View are appalling….Catholics, whites, men and unborn children, not to mention decent people in general, always get bashed by these hateful women….

Ann Coulter has BALLS OF STEEL!!! Why would anyone subject themselves to the torture everyone of those ladies proceeded to inflict. It is not an "act" she believes whole heartily what she is so called "spewing." Nobody would go through that if they did not truly believe in their cause.

Well, Ann has balls for going on one of the most liberal, one sided shows in history, where even the audience scorns anyone who does not fit the liberal, narrow minded, brainwashed ideal. Every single time a conservative shows up on the view, the audience boos what they say, and claps when one of the liberal women states some stupid opinion. Only Elizabeth is the exception. Anyway, Ann was not allowed to answer squat, and then Whoopi ends it by saying "you can dish it out but you can't take it". is that an attack?? hmm I'll have to think about it.

Why Ann Coultier would go on a show with the likes of Joy is beyond me. Coulter's views are backed by research data and not from a radical position like Behar's. On the other hand Sherry absolutely has the mind of a two year old and Whoopi likes to play the media. Barbara on the other hand shows her political view on the left, as her guests are mostly left wingers. There is no balance.

Cynthia, I realize you posted sometime ago but I hope you read this. OK, Mcdonalds sells millions of burgers each day but that does not mean they make a good burger? Then why are folks buying them? To eat a bad burger? This illustrates liberals lack of logic. Come up with one thing Coulter said on that show that was not true. Just one! Come on! Leave out the emotion and name calling. Think rationally. And for you others, just how do you have a baby accidentally? Don’t you have to have sex? And don’t count rape. The millions of single moms were not all raped. You all hate Ann because she cuts through the excuse making and tells the truth. And Dimples, get the racial chip off your shoulder. Nobody cares anymore about you being black.

What do you think?
