Conservative chatterbox Ann Coulter nearly had a coronary on Monday when head honchos at The TODAY Show abruptly cancelled a scheduled appearance on the day her new book about The Obamas is set to hit bookshelves.

The cancellation has sparked speculation that she had been “banned for life” from NBC and its two cable news networks, CNBC and MSNBC. A claim a high-ranking NBC News official has as “total hogwash.”

NBC insists Ann was bumped from TODAY’s Tuesday schedule to make room for “breaking news.”

“Understanding the media as well as she does,” a network spokeswoman said in a statement Monday, “we are sure she knows this happens. We look forward to welcoming her back in the future.”

Coulter’s book, Guilty: Liberal Victims and Their Assault on America, boasts a number of scathing attacks on the future First Family, including the observation that Michelle Obama is a “Jackie O wannabe.”
