Edwin A. Salt, the upcoming espionage thriller originally written for Mission: Impossible star Tom Cruise, is being re-scripted for serial mommy Angelina Jolie, Variety reported on Monday.

Tom was dropped from the project about a CIA operative accused of spying for the Russians last month after reportedly demanding a $20 million salary that was rebuffed by execs at Columbia Pictures.

According to Variety, Angelina Jolie has not yet signed on to star in the movie but is close to inking a deal.

Edwin A. Salt opens in theaters in 2009.
