Andy Roddick announces retirement from Professional Tennis

Andy Roddick has announced that following his appearance at the US Open, he will be retiring from professional tennis.

“I’ll make this short and sweet: I’ve decided that this is going to be my last tournament,” said Roddick tonight. “I just feel like it’s time. I don’t know that I’m healthy enough or committed enough to go another year,” he said. “I’ve always wanted to, in a perfect world, finish at this event.”

Roddick is scheduled to play 19-year-old, Aussie, Bernard Tomic in the second round Friday night at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

“I don’t know that I want to disrespect the game by coasting home,” Roddick said at the end of his press conference. Thanks for the memories Andy…now go home to your gorgeous wife, Brooklyn Decker.
