Amy Winehouse’s Ex-Husband — Blake Fielder-Civil — on Life Support After Suspected Overdose
Blake Fielder-Civil — perhaps best remembered as the former husband of late singing star Amy Winehouse — is reportedly fighting for his life in a UK hospital after a suspected drug and alcohol binge.
After a night out at a local pub, Blake, 30, was found in bed early Wednesday, choking on his own vomit last night. He was rushed to a Dewsbury hospital and is now on life support suffering multiple organ failure.
Sarah Aspin, the mother of Blake’s 15-month-old son, has been at his bedside since his collapse.
According to Sarah, 34, Blake came home with a friend staggering and slurring his words. She found him in a choking fit at 6 a.m. the following morning.
She tells The Sun:
“The doctors don’t know the prognosis and put him in a coma to help him. I’m praying he’ll survive but I’m having to prepare myself that he may never wake up. They let me in to hold his hand after 45 minutes. I found out later that they did that because they thought he was going to die.”
Medical experts are reportedly warned that could suffer permanent brain damage after swallowing his tongue. His left lung has also collapsed.
Amy and Blake wed in Miami in May 2007 and split two years later. Winehouse battled alcoholism and heroin/crack addiction until she was found died of acute alcohol intoxication in her Camden, London home in July 2011.
