Amy Winehouse recently spent $2 million setting up her own record label, Britain’s News Of The World tabloid reported on Sunday.
The troubled singer is trying o transform herself into a music mogul in hopes of launching a successful singing career for her 13-year-old goddaughter Dionne Bromfield, who has become her first signing.
Amy has reportedly already started working on Dionne’s debut album, which is scheduled for release in March.
Dionne herself seems to confirm the Amy Winehouse record label rumors, telling NOTW: “I had a lot of record companies wanting to sign me but I didn’t know where to go. So for Amy to set up this record company and make me her first signing means so much.”
“The album is co-produced and co-written by Amy. It has a kind of funky Motown soul sound.” a source adds.
“Amy thinks Dionne is so talented that she didn’t want to wait for record companies to come knocking in a few years.”
