“American Psycho” Musical
Serial killer Patrick Bateman is Broadway-bound.
The producers of HBO’s Big Love and the composers who brought us “Spring Awakening are bringing Bret Easton Ellis’ American Psycho to the New York stage.
A stage adaptation of Ellis’s celebrated novel about a handsome, homicidal Wall Street banker is in the works –featuring a score conceived by composer Duncan Sheik and a stageplay penned by playwright Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa — according to press release issued Tuesday.
“Grammy and Tony award-winning artist Duncan Sheik has signed on to compose the music and lyrics for the highly anticipated stage musical adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’ landmark satire American Psycho. Sheik’s score will channel the spirit of the 1980s alongside celebrated hits from the era, and playwright Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is set to write the book.”
Christian Bale played Bateman in a 2000 film adaptation of the novel.
