“American Idol” Ending In 2012
Idol….Out? The end of an era could be approaching with whispers out of Hollywood claiming American Idol is on the chopping block.
The National Enquirer claims the most-watched show in America will be just a memory by 2012.
A spy says: “By that times, the show will have been on the air for more than a decade, and the producers figure that’s long enough…That’s the reason why FOX is planning to conclude the show in three years, and why they’ve signed host Ryan Seacrest to a new contract for three years.”
Tabloid tattles says with ratings dwindling with each passing season, the network is making plans to replace the show.
“When it’s over, the plan is to replace it with an American version of Simon Cowell’s British smash hit, The X-Factor, a competition like Idol, but open to singers of all musical styles and all ages over 16,” the insider explains.
The way A.I. bigwigs have things mapped out, a grand finale will see the show out for its record 11th season.
“There’ll be a swan song season 11 which will feature some of the most popular contestants in the history of the show. They’ll compete against one another for the crown of ‘America’s Top Idol,’” according to the insider who adds that, “It will be a grand final experience for a TV phenomenon.”

They should change the voting system to one-vote-per-phone.
That way there would be more correlation between a singer’s popularity and votes (than with some people dialing a thousand times and some people dialing once.)
