Glee’s Amber Riley will perform our National Anthem — “The Star-Spangled Banner” — at the MLB All-Star Game, TV Guide has learned.
The news comes at the end of a big week for Amber. Last Thursday, Glee picked up a total of 19 nominations for the 62nd Annual Emmy Awards, including Best Comedy Series, Outstanding Comedy and Outstanding Actor in a Comedy. The comedy-drama about a beleaguered high school glee club will go head-to-head against Curb Your Enthusiasm, Modern Family, The Office, 30 Rock, and Nurse Jackie in the Best Comedy Series category at the 2010 Primetime Emmy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Fallon, Aug. 29.
The isn’t the first time Amber has provided the soundtrack to a sporting event. Last fall, Riley joined her Glee castmates in singing a rendition of The National Anthem during a World Series matchup against the New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies. The singing sitcom star, 24, will also conduct a special performance at the pre-game ceremony that will honor 30 people that are “All-Stars Among Us.” In addition, songstress Colbie Caillat will perform “God Bless America” during the seventh inning stretch.
The All-Star Game airs live from Angel Stadium on Tuesday, July 13 FOX @ 5PM PT.
