This week, theater producers in the Big Apple unveiled plans to launch a modern-day reinterpretation of Lewis Carroll’s classic fantasy novel Alice in Wonderland — which has already spawned a classic animated Disney adventure and more recently, a 3D box office hit directed by Tim Burton.

Wonderland: A New Alice will open April 17, 2011, putting a different spin on the story of Alice and what she’s doing today, The Associated Press said Tuesday. Wonderland shadows Alice all grown-up and dealing with a bevy of real-life sagas — from a fledging career, her estranged husband, and strained relationship with her teen daughter.
