Alec Baldwin Mail Order Bride Comment Sparks Outrage In The Philippines

Alec Baldwin is mumbling an “I’m Sorry” for making a joke about mail-order brides that has unleashed all kinds of Hell over in the Philippines.

On the Late Show with David Letterman May 12, Alec — who already has one daughter, Ireland, with ex Kim Basinger — quipped that he would love to have more children and that he was “thinking about getting a Filipino mail-order bride at this point … or a Russian one.”

After insulting several women’s rights groups in the U.S. and abroad, Alec issued a public apology on Wednesday.

“I’d like to offer an apology and a clarification to remarks I made recently,” Alec wrote on The Huffington Post.

“While on the David Letterman program, I joked that I might need a ‘mail-order bride’ to achieve the goal of having more children in my life. I believe that most people understood that this was a joke and took it as such. (A dated reference, no doubt, and another sign of my advancing age.)”

“However, I do apologize to anyone who took offense,” he concluded.

I like his apology and how he poked fun at himself. Seems he's learning a thing or two from 30 Rock. Wonder if he got Tina to write that one for him? lol

what the hell is the big deal? and what is "unethical" about his comment? he didn't say he wanted a child bride. why don't you google mail order brides, gpl, and see for yourself how many third world women are begging to marry someone outside of their own countries!
