Academy Awards 2014: Who’s Up for Oscars Gold?

Nominees for the 86th annual Academy Awards were announced in Los Angeles Thursday morning.

Actor Chris Hemsworth and Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Cheryl Boone Isaacs were on hand to read off the names of this year’s top Oscar nominees. American Hustle and Gravity lead the field, but there were several big snubs too.

There will be no Oscar gold for Talk Queen Oprah Winfrey, who had been a shoo-in for the Best Supporting Actress prize for her work in The Butler before rumored frontrunners Lupita Nyong’o and Jennifer Lawrence came along. Also shutout of this year’s hattips are animated holiday musical Frozen and Tom Hanks and Emma Watson for Saving Mr. Banks — the telling of the making of Mary Poppins.
