ABC has enlisted the help of a Supermanny. The alphabet network is forging ahead with plans for a male-based Supernanny spinoff. ABC will air a pilot episode of Supermanny this Fall.

The spinoff’s format will be similar to that of it’s predecsessor, but instead of tough-loving British nanny Jo Frost in the lead role, the Supermanny will star Chicago-based child therapist Mike Ruggles.

“With a guy, he can connect with dads in a different kind of way,” executive producer Nick Emmerson says. “It’s really powerful stuff.”

“It feels different to have a guy come in to work with your kids. A woman has a woman’s touch, and people are more accepting and ready for her advice. We had to find the right person who has real authority and a gentle touch as well.”
