Another one bites the dust…
Abby Elliott is set to exit Saturday Night Live, adding to the high-profile departures of Kristen Wiig and Andy Samberg from the classic sketch series. After four seasons, the second generation SNLer will not return to the show in the fall.
NBC has refused to comment, but a source familiar with casting changes at the show confirmed Elliott’s departure comedy website Splitsider on Wednesday
Joining the cast in 2008, Abby was one of the show’s youngest performers ever at age 21. Elliott, however, failed to develop a popular character — despite remaining on the show for four seasons. In fact, critics pointed to her romantic relationship with SNL co-star Fred Armisen as the reason she wasn’t axed sooner.
Abby’s exit concludes a rare Live legacy: The funnygal’s dad, comedian Chris Elliott, appeared on SNL during the show’s 1994-1995 season.
