Freddy Krueger just got a wake-up call. New Line Cinema is set to relaunch the wildly-successful ’80′s horror flick franchise that began with Wes Craven’s 1984 film “A Nightmare on Elm Street.” Robert Englund appeared in around eight films and countless TV episodes as a child killer who slices up teens like Thanksgiving turkeys while they sleep. In fact, the ’84 was the first film role for recent Golden Globe winner Johnny Depp. The studio has not decided with the new “Nightmare” series will kick off with a remake or just a film based on the dream-snatching stalker. Hopefully, someone will figure out that this is a horrible idea and call it all off. I, for one, don’t need to see this. Freddy Krueger still scares the hell out of me!
