A 9-Year-Old Rory McIlroy Told Tiger Woods To Beware Of Him Way Back In 1998
Rory McIlroy is the number one golfer in the world and when he was just 9-years-old he warned Tiger Woods of his eventual dominance in the sport.
In 2014, McIlroy claimed the top prize at both the Open Championship and the PGA Championship while Tiger Woods fell out of the Top 100 for the first time since 1996.
According to a piece published by Charles Siebert in The New York Times, a 9-year-old Rory McIlroy wrote a letter to Woods, cautioning him of his eventual takeover of the golf world. The golfer’s uncle recalls him writing the letter after his win at the 1998 Doral-Publix Junior Golf Classic.
McIlroy’s uncle paraphrased the 9-year-old in an email:
I’m coming to get you. This is the beginning. Watch this space.
Tiger Woods has been plagued by injuries over the last decade while Rory McIlroy seems to be getting better on a daily basis.
If Rory McIlroy tells you he plans to take over your sport, I would suggest listening to him with an open mind.
