60-Second ‘Star Wars’ TV Spot Reveals Han Solo’s Bigger Role
We’re just over a month away from the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and now it seems like every day brings more news, TV spots, and plot details.
On Friday morning, a new 60-second TV spot was released, similar to the first one that was only half as long, but in this one, Han Solo appears to play a much bigger role than most people previously imagined he would.
In that iconic first trailer, he’s seen telling main characters Rey and Finn that “It’s true. All of it,” referring to the battle between the Empire and the Rebel Alliance, as well as the mysterious Force that governs all things. He seemed to be in the film as a cameo role, there to pass the torch to a new era of Dark-Side-fighting young padawans, so to speak.
However, the above TV spot shows Solo in action, leading Rey and Finn into what I believe could be the lair of Maz Kanata, Lupita Nyong’o’s character. He is also shown handing Rey a blaster, telling her, “You might want to take this.” He’s also seen in combat, wielding a blaster himself.
We’ve also seen footage of now-General Leia in what looks like a control room. But her love interest, now husband, was always more of a hand-to-hand combat man himself. It’s possible that they will both take active roles in facing the new threat posed by Kylo Ren, and lead the newbies into their destinies.
But really, where the heck is Luke Skywalker?
