2011 Screen Actors Guild Awards Complete List Of Winners
The King’s Speech won the top prize at the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday, giving the film a major Oscar boost four weeks ahead of Hollywood’s biggest night.
The British royals drama, which leads this year’s Oscar field with 12 nominations, scooped the Best Ensemble Cast prize (the SAG equivalent of Best Picture) just 24 hours after picking up the top prize at the Directors Guild of America Awards on Saturday. The Best Ensemble prize is often seen as a key indicator of who will win the Oscar for Best Picture, which will be announced at the Kodak Theatre on Feb. 27.
Acting SAG trophies went Colin Firth for The King’s Speech and Natalie Portman for Black Swan. Christian Bale picked up the Supporting Actor SAG for Mark Wahlberg’s The Fighter, with Melissa Leo named Best Supporting Actress for her role in the same film.
The SAG Awards also honor the best in television, with Boardwalk Empire’s Steve Buscemi and The Good Wife’s Julianna Margulies among the winners. Betty White — who, at 89, is experiencing her own career resurgence — won the Best TV Comedy Actress trophy for her TV Land hitcom Hot in Cleveland.
