Avril Lavigne says she only hires brunette backup dancers because she insists on being the only blonde on stage when she performs live. Towhead hoofers are ordered to go brown, Avri explains.

“Everyone was brown, except one of my favorite girls was blonde so we were like, ‘You have to have brown hair.’ It wouldn’t look right,” Avril says.

“I wanted my girls to look really punk rock with like black hair and that’s pretty standard for everyone, like Madonna and Mariah Carey. If they’re blonde you’re not going to see another blonde on stage.”

The third season of Making The Band 4 begins airing August 13 on MTV.

Lauren Conrad-and a giant camera lens-cover this week’s edition of Entertainment Weekly. In her cover story with EW, the wealthy fashion maven, known to pals as “LC,” poked fun at her ever-present entourage of paparazzi (hence the cover photo). The Princess of MTV also offered a few spoilers on the new season of The Hills, debuting August 18th at 10 p.m.

“It’s about empowering girls,” Lauren says of the explosive reaity series. “You’re gonna have bad boyfriends and best friends-turned-enemies. You need to be yourself, you need to work hard and you’ll get there.”

Hollywood is preparing to butcher another classic 80s film franchise, according to a scoop from DreadCentral.com.

The Office’s Steve Carell and funnyman Seth Rogan are just a couple of the comic on a short-list to star in a third follow-up to the 1984 comedy Ghostbusters.

The 40-Year-Old Virgin co-stars will join the series’ original ghoul spookers; Dan Akroyd, Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson; for a third film next Summer, “a reliable source, who cannot be named” says.

Award-winning actors Philip Seymour Hoffman and Johnny Depp are being courted for roles in a sequel to the biggest box office feature ever, The Dark Knight. Sources close to the project tell the National Enquirer that studio heads are hoping to bring Hoffman, who starred in the critically-acclaimed 2006 film Capote, and Depp on-board for a follow-up to this Summer’s Batman epic.
