i find it disappointing that you missed the foo fighters. they request hot deep fried tater tots and bacon, served in styrofoam cups, which will henceforth in all contracts be referred to as ‘the currency of the gods.’

now anybody who does 5 seconds of thinking (and i’m sure many have failed at this) will realize you’re just going to create a melty plastic/food mess with all of this. but it’s definitely worth a high five if i ever run into the band.

I agree a lot of those requests are ridiculous, but humidifiers are actually important to keep the vocal folds hydrated (that is, if the air isn’t already in a good humidity range). Dry air is hard to deal with. If you sleep with your mouth open and night and wake up all gravely, it’s because your chords are dry. Not good for singing :)

All of these weird things are included so that the performer can make sure the promoter has read all of the contract agreements–including really important safety issues. As John Flansburgh of They Might Be Giants told This American Life’s Ira Glass, if they didn’t read the request for M&M’s, how can you be sure they read the safety information? Clever, really.

the celine dion one is definitely true. my dad put the AC in her room. she also yelled at him because there weren’t enough humidifiers and her voice could get sore.

I think it’s important to realize that a lot of the people on the list probably realize how ludicrous the stuff the ask for is…I’m sure a lot of it is just as a lark.

I mean, come on…if you were Barbra F’in Streisand you’d probably be like “Ya know, I bet I could get them to put rose petals in my toilet, that’d be pretty hilari-awesome”

These are some absurd demands. It’s no wonder the stars are all reclusive. They all have these strange wants that if everyone really knew about them, they’d be banished into obscurity.
