9. Galaxies vs The Old Republic

Star Wars Galaxies was the first big Star Wars massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) on the block, and quickly attracted a huge following of players; however, it was criticized by some quarters for not picking up quite as many subscribers as expected. The news that it is set to be cancelled on December 15, 2011, with the new and improved MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic by BioWare due to takes its place, has been met by shock and disbelief in many online gamers’ forums. It’s not clear whether the gaming community which is devoted to the old game will move into the new vehicle or if they’ll find something else to do with their time in protest.
