10 Famous Actors Who Have Also Had Roles In Popular Videogames
Actors generally get famous for their work in movies and TV shows, but sometimes those same people will go on to do a number of other things that some people may not be aware of, including video games.
Unless you are an avid player of video games in addition to knowing celebrities really well, you may not realize that so many actors have lent their voices to characters, and in some cases, characters’ appearances are even modeled after a particular actor.
This is evident in different types of games and with a number of different types of actors.
Here is a list of 10 famous actors who have also had parts in video games:
Kristen Bell, Assasin’s Creed
This one is fairly easy to pick out as long as you have a vague idea of what Kristen Bell looks like and know her voice, which most people do after the release of Frozen especially, playing the character of Anna. In the first and second Assassin’s Creed games, as well as the later version, Assasin’s Creed: Brotherhood, Bell plays the character of Lucy Stillman. She is a member of the Assasin’s Order and a former genetic memory researcher.
Mila Kunis, Saints Row: The Third
It is a bit surprising when you realize how many times she has had her voice used in a video game or cartoon given her good looks that she has also been praised for, but Mila Kunis also had a role in Saints Row. The game can be thought of as a more outrageous version of Grand theft Auto and in the game, she portrays the character Tanya, a Vice Kings lieutenant, with her primary responsibility to manage the Vice King brothel.
Ray Liotta, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
Out of all of the actors portraying characters in video games, Ray Liotta’s is perhaps the least surprising. He has had his fair share of roles as gangster types on screen in film, and in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, he plays Tommy Vercetti, the main character in the game and the one who is controlled by users. His smooth-talking voice and attitude made the character even more fun to control.
Kevin Spacey, Call Of Duty Advanced Warfare
His role is perhaps the most recognizable of anyone since the character is modeled after him and the developers did such a good job that you would think that it is him. He was used in the trailers for the game and the character is a large part of the story mode. Kevin Spacey plays Jonathan Irons, the founder of an evil private military corporation called Atlas.
Michael Keaton, Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2
Prior to his first Oscar nomination and following his role as Batman and many other films, Michael Keaton had his voice in the game Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2. He played the character Jason Hudson, who was a special agent and he was a CIA Agent responsible for handling Alex Mason primarily during 1968. He replaced Ed Harris who played the character in the first Black Ops.
Sam Worthington, Call Of Duty: Black Ops 1 and 2
He is not as well known as some other actors, but the English-born actor has appeared in several films, most notably Avatar. In Call Of Duty: Black Ops, he portrays Alex Mason, one of the main characters in the games, and the man who works closely with CIA Agent Jason Hudson. He is a lower ranking officer who learns the ropes of the military throughout the game.
James Woods, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
He is no stranger to having his voice in a show or game after appearing in several episodes of Family Guy as himself, but he also has a prominent role in one of the best games in the Grand Theft Auto franchise, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. In the game, he plays Mike Toreno, an undercover agent from an unknown Government agency who disguises himself as a drug supplier for and leader of the Loco Syndicate.
Samuel L. Jackson, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
His voiced has been used a few other times as well and in addition to Woods and other famous actors, he was a part of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. While he has played his fair share of both cops, bad guys, and of course Avengers director, Nick Fury, his character in the game is Officer Frank Tenpenny. However, he is a corrupt police officer with the Los Santos Police department and serves as the main antagonist.
Idris Elba, Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
He has been seen in a variety of different films and even does a bit of music on the side, but many people probably missed Idris Elba’s role in Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. He plays the character Truck, a Sergeant First Class and a Delta Force operator who was seen throughout the game. He was second in command of Metal team and appears in the Delta Force missions.
Ellen Page, Beyond: Two Souls
Similarly to Kristen Bell, but to an even greater degree, Ellen Page went through a lot to have her character in Beyond: Two Souls modeled after her. She had motion capture technology used on her in order to make the character in the game’s movements done just like her and the character looks like her while sharing her voice as well. It is a single-player action-adventure game that was only available on the Playstation 3 and her character is the primary character in the game, being praised highly for the technical detail that went into her character.
