8. Minority Report

In the 2002 movie Minority Report, psychics who can see future crimes are used to arrest all potential murderers before they can kill anyone. (It also has Tom Cruise and Colin Farrell trying to out-ham each other, and a computer you control by waving your hands in front of it… which makes us wonder: what would happen if you had to scratch your ass?) Of course, the PreCrime justice system isn’t so good for the poor people who get locked away, but being able to detect and stop 100% of murders before they happen looks to be a great thing for everyone else. For one thing, it would save over 15,000 lives per year in the US alone; for another, we’d spend less money on cops by turning over the entire legal system to a few psychics who can see into the future. And psychics are awesome.
